MICROCREDIT
Project sponsored by the Benefit Olympic Games (aka the "Olympic Games ofthe Heart"), the Pantani Foundation and Black Spruts.
The project, which provides the building of a Centre managed in cooperation with the Unions of the village of Pilana and neighbouring areas, is developed ranging over several joint actions: Montessori Nursery School - After-School Service & Training, Health Care Centre and Microcredit.
NURSERY SCHOOL
- Since June 2006 the Montessori Nursery School has been operative with an attendance of 75 children aged between 3 and 5 years.
We guarantee them a daily meal. The parents' committee provides for the service as a voluntary work. The cooperation between teachers and parents ensures a first screening on the origin of each child’s family. - After-School activities for 250 children aged from 6 to 16 years divided into English, Mathematics and Science courses.
In agreement with the state owned schools in the district, we offer a diverse learning methodology, besides carrying out an action aimed at the resumption of school attendance for many boys and girls who, due to family problems, were obliged to drop out of school.
Cultural and entertainment programming in order to experience the centre as a “protected” place where to carry out different activities (film club, theatrical and sporting activities, etc.) Besides, a daily meal is guaranteed for 75 children, with a monthly cost of 150.00 Euros.
GUIDANCE CENTRE
On March 24th 2007 a guidance centre managed by the local health service M.H.O. was inaugurated Ten nurses and a manager. doctor in gynaecology. carry out an outpatient and home care activity, monitoring the tamilies for a data collection on the health and sanitary situation, schooling and family framework.The aim is to bring out the most urgent cases and report to the competent authorities the situations at risk of violence and child abuse.
The starting users are 800 families. During an examination in the outpatient clinic, an ultrasound scanner ensures at zero cost a safe and protected procedure for pregnant women. The Guidance Centre is also proposed as an informing service with regard to Nutrition and distributes every 15 days concentrated protein powder for the most precarious cases.
The outpatient clinic follows the child throughout its growth from 0 up to 5 years.MICROCREDIT
Constant monitoring of the feasibility of the projects presented during the meetings with the commitee in charge. A timing plan is set for the ascertainment of the result and concrete sustainability, the requirements for investigating other proposals.
